The DC59 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner is powered by the Dyson digital motor V6. This 350W motor, 2 Tier Radial™ cyclones and a re-engineered nickel manganese cobalt battery combine to provide powerful suction. The latest motorised head with carbon fibre filaments aids in achieving high dust removal. Together these four technologies enable DC59 Animal to suck up as much dust as even a corded vacuum.

My new dyson
(October 24, 2015)
Sceptically purchased new dyson with a 30 day money back offer as was indeed quite expensive and hasn't looked back since.
Only downside is the rather short battery life on full power, but the cordlessness certainly outweighs this.
Had one set back where it kept switching off, but the dyson support website was very helpful and easy to read, and solved the problem of a blockage.
Love my new animal its lightweight, compact & easy to use everywhere around the house. Main use to clean out car so being cordless is perfect. Would be even better if it's running time were longer but other than that it's a great product
Absolutely love the v6 animal cordless vacuum cleaner. I bought this on the recommendation fof my daughter who was always raving about it. It's light easy to use and works well on both floor and the carpet. I only have a small house so it's ideal as I can do the whole house on the 20 minute charge.
only used once so far and I am sure I will get used to it, but I have found it too easy to press the trigger and turn on also because I have arthritic hands and wrists I found it very difficult to change the tools and empty. I was pleasantly surprised at how much it picked up. certainly easier to handle than my big dyson which I have been very pleased with but is too heavy for me now.
We purchased a dc59 and have found it to handle anything the dogs can throw at it. The turbo button is really helpful for getting those annoying dog hairs out of clothing.! I would recommend this to anyone..!
just replaced dc34 with this mega beast V6 animal we use it for the stairs and caravan and cars and hard to reach bits of the house the improvements from the old one are noticeable when you press the trigger and release the power its awesome from such a small machine, and have improved the way you get to the filter less of a fiddle well done dyson
I brought this because I have dogs and a lot of stairs in my house so cordless seemed perfect. However I have to charge it twice sometimes three times which as you can imagine makes cleaning take double long and while it's great on the stairs. It's not so great on the carpets so I'm a little disappointed and wish I brought a corded one now
I've owned the D59 Animal for over 2 years, using it once or twice daily to hoover our bungalow (we have four dogs!) I was worried about the battery life and battery power, but this has lasted brilliantly and is more than up to the job. Amazing.
The best thing is that this machine makes hoovering fun ... yes FUN! It's just so easy to pick up and hoover the whole place. I couldn't now go back to a regular hoover.
Only downsides are the machine needs emptying after every use, and the power-brushes need a good de-hairing every two or three uses (both of us have long hair, and the dogs don't help in this matter) ... which is fiddly, and the carbon fibre brushes have worn through to the glue. But overall, the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had ... most of the previous ones were Dysons, too, but regular ones, rather than battery operated. Summary ... totally brilliant.
I must admit I was sceptical about this vacuum cleaner, I needed something more lightweight and I struggle to push around our DC15; especially up the stairs. I didn't want to sacrifice suction for ease, but there is no worry there. The suction is so strong, it feels like the V6 is stuck to the carpet! Keeps all the carpet, tiles and wood floor clean and dog hair free! The only dissapointing feature is its charge, we were told it can do 20 minutes after 3 hours charge, but we had it on charge 9 hours and I got 12 minutes out of it. Just shy of what was needed to do the whole house. However, this doesn't put me off as I'm happy to use this vacuum cleaner little and often because it's light and easy. Would highly recommend (on sale in Currys).
Spent a year humming and arring about whether to get one of these. unfortunately, Dyson seem to only show how it works on laminate/wood floors and not on a lot of carpet, only Stair carpet from memory, which does tend to make you think they wont work as well on carpet.
Well I bought one, while ordering making sure it could go back without any problems if I didn't like it - no need to bother with that one again lol
while it was charging I realised dyson hadn't sent the extra bits so I rang up and was talking to customer service lady who was brilliant. I explained I had cats and wasn't really hopeful about it picking up cat hair as well as the corded dyson I have... no worries she said - I have 4 cats it will do its job. run over the carpet with your corded dyson then use the animal. Well we did and I couldn't believe what it picked up.. cat hairs, dirt, it was amazing. You look at it and think naw it wont do as well as the dyson but it does in fact like every upgrade of dyson that I have had since 1988 it has been better. I bought this one because I have arthritis in my hands and pushing heavy cleaners around is getting too much - I find it great for doing high up as well as the floor. it is balanced well and not too heavy.
Great at cleaning. Emptying is difficult. First catch opens bottom so you must be positioned, preferably almost in, a deep container, ready for most of the contents to fall out. Second catch releases the dust collector so more dust is then released. If the release was the other way around it might help to keep the dust from covering the nearby area. It is difficult to hold the whole mechanism over a pedal bin, so some way of releasing the dust container complete before the bottom opens would be a great help.
I have 2 dogs & one of them is a major shedder. A quick run through the house and it will pack the canister full. Or about one battery use. I had no idea there was that much hair until I started using the DC59. Today I thought it may have started to fail because it would start & stop repeatedly. After I looked at the brush head I noticed how dirty it was & how they put a turn screw on it to take it apart & clean. All is good again and back to tackling the house. Love the docking station too. Great purchase.
Was recommended this product by a friend. Dyson web site had an offer of £349 but I got it from Currys for £269 Bargain! Only used it a few times but it's light to handle and sucks really well. The small roller used without the long extension is brilliant for the stair carpet and gets rid of our dog and cat hair really well.
This is expensive and I did wonder whether it would be worth the money. The jury's still out on that but I love this handheld. Its suction is amazing and so far the battery life is as advertised which makes a change for handhelds. I do have a gripe though. Unlike the V6's big brother the dust container doesn't remove from the body to empty so I'm left having to fiddle about pulling the clumps of hair and dust out manually which doesn't go well without using something long and thin like a knife to coax the compacted fibres out. Not what should be happening with an appliance this expensive! Would have been five stars otherwise.
